MQMAS
Multiple quantum magic angle spinning experiments have developed into the main method of obtaining high resolution spectra of quadrupolar nuclei. With the use of selective phase cycling multiple quantum coherences are created and left to evolve before being converted back to an observable single quantum coherence. The FT of this data generates a 2D spectrum where the f1 dimension contains the isotropic spectrum while the f2 dimension contains the anisotropic powder pattern associated with the central transition.
The
3Q-MAS spectrum of RbNo3 displaying the HR spectra of the three components
that make up the powder pattern. Experiment performed by V. Terskikh (the
900 Facility) with the 4 mm MAS probe.
